I Thought I was A Robot Poem

I thought I was a robot,
Unbreakable and strong,
I never felt weak or tired,
I could work all day long.

I never got sick or sneezed,
I never had a cough,
I thought I was invincible,
I thought I was enough.

But then one day I felt a pain,
A cold had taken hold,
I was weak and tired and sick,
I was no longer bold.

I thought it was just a minor cold,
I tried to push through,
But as the days went by,
I knew I had to renew.

I wasn’t a robot after all,
I was just a human being,
My immune system had been weakened,
By an infection that was freeing.

I learned to take better care of myself,
To listen to my body’s needs,
I’m not invincible, but I am resilient,
And that’s all I really need.
